JUDY LUNN: Links

Terri Hendrix

Terri Hendrix is the real deal.  A singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, business woman, humanitarian ... she's all these things wrapped up in the biggest heart I've ever come across.  She and Lloyd Maines have been performing together for over 15 years.  I am always humbled and inspired when I watch them perform.  Please check out her website, and attend a show if you can.  This is one duo you do NOT want to miss!

DrumZ - Sherry Gingras

One of the most inspiring musicians in the Live Music Capital is Sherry Gingras, owner of DrumZ.   I've always been interested in hand percussion, and a friend suggested I visit Sherry's store/studio and attend one of her classes.  So when I saw an ad in the paper for a 2 hour workshop on the same night as the event, I let my spontaneous inner child run wild, and got there just in time.

What a magical evening it was .... a group of 14 strangers came into this inviting space with no idea of what we were getting into.  Within the first 15 minutes we were all in love ..... with this gracious, caring, intuitive teacher.   Not only is Sherry extremely gifted as a performer and a teacher .... she is also one of the most "grounded" people I have ever met .... and her spiritual connection with the natural world and respect for the cultures around the world and their contributions to music were just as meaningful as the new skills we were learning.

There was a storm brewing outside that night .... and it seamed that we were all drumming in rhythm to the howling wind and rain outside .... there is no doubt we all felt a connection and no one left that evening untouched.

I immediately signed up for a 4 week session and found that many of the people in that "introductory" workshop did the same thing.  I can't tell you how much I looked forward to those mid Saturday mornings for the camaraderie of my new "band" members, and for the gentle words of wisdom and lessons I knew I would learn that day.

As Sherry always says, "if you have a heartbeat, you have rhythm" -- so if you are interested in "testing the musical waters" and trying something completely new, I encourage you to sign up for a hand percussion class or workshop at DrumZ.  I guarantee you will love it!

He writes gorgeous lyrics and melodies with many reflections on nature, just as John did. I highly recommend you follow the career of this talented artist!
Semester At Sea
I have had the pleasure of traveling around the world twice with Semester At Sea. If you love to travel and have a thirst for knowledge -- this is the way to go! College students call the MV Explorer their "home campus" for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Between semesters, "lifelong learners" of any age can enjoy the intimate, relaxed atmosphere this vessel provides. The crew of the MV Explorer are like family to me -- they are some of the sweetest, most service oriented, kind people I know.
One World Theatre

One World Theatre is my favorite venue in Austin for a number of reasons.  Hartt Stearns has created a "magical" space in this Italian Villa.  The upstairs theatre seats 300 guests, and the intimate room has wonderful acoustics and an excellent line of sight to the stage from every seat.   Because of its size, there are usually two shows per night to accommodate all of the patrons.  Besides the venue itself, which is gorgeous, Hartt also offers a wide range of musical styles and entertainers so there is something for everyone.

Hartt is very supportive of local entertainers like me, giving us the opportunity to perform two one hour sets before the show in the great reception room/lounge downstairs.  So far, I have performed for Jerry Jeff Walker and BJ Thomas' pre-show guests.
